Renting out our holiday home in Brabant: our first month with The Kempen Forest Cabin

What a special milestone — our very first month of renting out our holiday home in the Brabantse Kempen, in the south of the Netherlands! It’s been exciting, new, and above all, so much fun to see how guests enjoy their holidays in Brabant.

Our first booking came a little sooner than expected. Good friends of ours wanted to spend a weekend at our forest cabin. We had actually planned that weekend to finish the final details, but of course we made sure everything was perfectly ready. The house was spotless, the inventory complete, and a cosy welcome package was waiting for them.

As we do with all our guests, we checked in briefly to see if everything went smoothly upon arrival and then let them enjoy their stay. Still, it was nerve-racking: had we thought of everything? Did it really feel like a comfortable holiday home in nature? Fortunately, they soon texted that they were having a wonderful time.

Our first “real” guests

Just a few hours after our friends checked out, the next guests arrived — people we didn’t know this time, which made it even more exciting! They told us how much they loved the house and noticed the care and attention that went into every detail. They appreciated the complete facilities and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings of the Brabantse Kempen. For us, it was both a relief and a confirmation: renting out our holiday home in Brabant was going to be a success.

A fully booked first month

Our very first month was completely booked midweeks, weekends, not a single day empty. Over time, it felt a little less nerve-wracking, but our enthusiasm only grew. Each positive message from our guests motivated us even more to keep everything perfect. Guests were super happy and even gave us useful tips to make the house even better.

One of our favourite things has become the guestbook in The Kempen Forest Cabin. We love reading the stories, experiences, and kind words our guests leave behind. From short notes to full-page stories, they always make us smile and remind us how special it is that our forest cottage in Brabant gives people such a lovely time.
